Baking cookies with your child is always such a special activity, and you can start this tradition even when they are really young!
To turn this into a sensory activity, choose a cookie recipe where your child can help get their hands dirty, messy, and sticky. Some cookie recipes to try:
- Thumbprint cookies
- Sugar cookies with cream cheese frosting
- Peanut butter no bake cookies (great recipe for those who put EVERYTHING in their mouth because all the ingredients are safe to eat without baking
- Gluten free cookies
- Egg free cookies
- Dairy free cookies
If you want less mess, pre-measure all the ingredients and ask them to help you add each on to the bowl. If you want more fun, more sensory, and more mess, ask your child to help you scoop the flour, sugar, and other ingredients into the measuring cups.
Psst, if you happened to come across this page and are wondering what the heck this is all about: We are doing the 52 Weeks of Sensory challenge. Come join us!
