Week 30 Sensory Activity - Grass time!

Share this post:

This week's activity is super simple: take your child to a park with grass, and let them run around, play catch, kick a ball, toss a frisbee, and do cartwheels (or attempt to do cartwheels).

Let your kid run around barefoot if they don't mind (and if it is safe to do so at that park). Otherwise, let them touch the grass with their hands to explore its texture.

You can combine this with the Outdoor Treasure Hunt activity, or simply have a picnic at the park.

I wrote before about how sometimes picky kids are much more willing to try new foods when they are in a low-pressure environment and having fun (as opposed to having to sit at the dining table, and knowing that they are expected to try things), so a picnic on the grass might be a great way to get them to try something they typically don't want to go near. So plan your picnic foods strategically! But make sure to also bring foods that they like, and don't pressure them to try the new foods if they are not into it.
