Week 17 Sensory Activity - Sort Cooked Beans

Ask your child to help you with a very important task: sorting cooked beans.

OK OK, it might not be a super important task, but it will make them feel important if they think they are helping.

Just combine 2-3 cans of different types of beans in one large bowl and give them a couple of extra containers. They can use their hands or these tongs to sort the beans - either way it is a good fine motor skills activity! Just make sure you have some towels or baby wipes to clean their hands afterwards.

When they're done, make chili with the mixed beans so they don't go to waste. Try my recipe for Sweet Potato Chili with Mixed Beans (it uses 2 cans of beans) or use the beans for a more traditional chili recipe without sweet potatoes.
